Clean Air Strategy

This week saw the announcement from DEFRA of their Clean Air Strategy which led to a lot of "bad" press and mis-reporting from some news publications. Let’s try to set the story straight on this one.

Firstly, the government have not said that they want to ban woodburning stoves. What they want to see is a move to modern stoves which are SIA EcoDesign Ready by 2020 (most of the ACR Stoves are already tested to this level and all will be at this level by the end of 2019) used in conjunction with Ready To Burn wood which has less than 20% moisture. The government want to see a ban on sales of house coal and wet wood and at ACR, we are totally in support of this move.

For the last couple of years, ACR Stoves have supported the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA) with their efforts to improve emissions from stoves so that we as an industry, can be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. If you burn Ready To Burn wood on your ACR SIA EcoDesign Ready stove you will be giving off up to 90% less emissions that if you were using an older-designed stove or open fire. This can only be good news to us all.
