This is a super tasty tomato sauce which can be tweaked and adapted each time. Make a large batch and then freeze what you don’t use so it’s ready for the next pizza night.

Step 1

Put all the ingredients into a heavy bottomed sauce pan and stir to combine over a gentle heat

Step 2

Slowly simmer until reduced by half

Step 3

Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly

Step 4

Wizz up in a blender until smooth and adjust the seasoning to suit

Step 5

Use immediately or pop in the fridge and use as necessary

TIP

This will stay fresh in an air-tight container in the fridge for 3 days or you can freeze this until required

1 500g can of chopped tomatoes

500g passata

1 tsp dried garlic powder

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp golden caster sugar

1/5 tsp fine sea salt

2 tsp olive oil

1/2 tsp lemon juice (or cider vinegar if preferred)

1/2 tsp chilli flakes – only use if you like it hot otherwise use with caution or leave out of the recipe!!
